The Loveless Cafe...Nashville TN

I know what you are thinking...why is there a blurry photo in this frame?  The story is actually pretty cute...but this is a gift for my aunt & uncle in-law from Tennessee.  We were lucky enough to visit them this summer and they took us to a wonderfully popular restaurant called The Loveless Cafe.  This was amazing comfort food at its best...fried green tomatoes, crispy fried chicken, sorghum on the table and these flaky and lighter than air biscuits.  During dinner, Uncle Gary took a photo of all of us at the table.  A friendly diner at the next table saw he was doing this and offered to take a photo of all of us at the table.  I should have seen what was coming when he took the camera from Gary...the diner, who was incredibly sweet to offer, was very shaky when he was holding the camera.  He snapped one photo, quicker than I could ask him to take another, he put the camera down and left...smiling and going on his way.  Well I looked at the photos in the review mode of the camera and began laughing so hard at the photo he took.  This is one of the best & funniest times we have spent with our family in TN and treasure this photo above all others (almost).

I was able to use the October Afternoon Sidewalks paper and chip & stick embellishments for the layout.  The frame was purchased at the local dollar store.  The total cost for this gift was under $7.00.

Season Greeting Gift Bags

A few weeks ago I ordered a few new items from Papertrey Ink.  I was so excited to get the Front & Center Die #1.  I finally decided to play around with it today.  Last year I made this amazing Terrific Toffee Recipe (it is so easy it is criminal)...if you make this, DO NOT tell the recipient how simple it was to make...:)  Anywho, last year I made this toffee for friends & family and this year I am doing the same...I am just changing the packaging.  I used a holiday paper pack from Hobby Lobby...I really love the colors this year...the browns & pinks are such a happy color combination for me.  I also used the standard doily & glimmer mist to decorate the tag as well as stamps from an Echo Park set I bought this year.  I am really happy with the final product...I think my friends & family will also.

Happy Holidays!

Happy Birthday...

I finally made it to the Jo-Ann Fabrics in Vernon Hills.  It is a much larger store than what we have here in town.  I was able to pick up a new clear rubber stamp set and an new border punch.  Here is a simple birthday card for my daughter's friend.  I was able to use my glimmer mist and a new ribbon I picked up at Wal-Mart (for $1...yay me!).  This is such a happy card, I may just make more!

Echo Park Season's Greetings Mini Album

I just finished the latest mini book for Hannah's Design Team...this will be made into a kit to purchase in their store.  Everything used in this book was from Echo Park...except for the solid colored cardstock.  The book was also created from cardstock that was die cut on their Accu-cut die cutter.  Not to mention I was able to use one of my most favorite Christmas Bette Midler...Mele is a total classic!

Authentique Halloween Album for Hannah's

I'm baaaaack!!!  I have been so busy lately with many many many things.  I took on 2 assignments from Hannah's in Antioch for their design is the first of the two projects.  I created a mini album for Halloween out of the Authentique line Glowing.  I LOVE this paper line.

I die cut the black chipboard panels and then covered them with paper.  I added mini black envelopes between the panels for extra journaling, photos, dodads & bits, etc.  Enjoy the video!

Love You, Doll

I should have waited until tomorrow to take the photo of this card outside...the lighting in my studio (a.k.a the kitchen) has low lighting tonight.  I finished this card and I am growing quite partial to it.  I have been wanting to make a paper ruffle for awhile and I think I found the perfect card for it.  I also can't resist using the PTI Dress Form Die whenever I can.

Papertrey Ink July Blog Hop...

It's that time again...time for the monthly PTI Blog Hop.  I haven't played along in awhile, so I thought I would play tonight.  Here was the inspirational photo:

I chose to go with the colors of the photo for today's entry.  I just love the colors together, the turquois & orange remind me of the Miami Dolphins for some reason.  The photo i really quite beautiful and makes me want to curl up with a good book an spend the afternoon gazing out of the window.  Well here is my entry:

I used Tempting Turquois SU paper and a sheet of Basic Grey Green Thumb.  I embossed the BG paper with a dot embossing folder from Darice.  Then used Tim Holtz Distress Ink to bring up the embossing a bit more.  I also cut a doily in half and used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Tiger Lily.  The stap set used was Beautiful Blooms II & Signature Series: Flower.  I also used Mat Stack 4 cut in half to complete the card.

Thanks for was fun playing along tonight...:)

Stamp-A-Faire Challenges 5-9

This card actually qualifies for 5 of te challenges presented today with PTI Stamp-A-Faire...

Challenge #5  Create a faux border with a stamp

I actually used the top of the pie from My Punny Valentine for the rainbow half circles

Challenge #6 Notch your car and wrap a ribbon around it

Challenge #7 Have a "Play Date" with your stamps and use at least 2
Here I used the My Punny Valentine & Simple Sentiments

Challenge #8 Cut the top flap of your card slightly smaller to leave a flap for a design
This is where I stamped the Simple Sentiments

Challenge #9 Use a stamp in a different way
Here again I used the top of the pie piece from My Punny Valentine as a scallop border stamp

Wow...I did it...just under the gun as well...thanks for looking, I had a blast playing along.

Stamp-A-Faire Challenge Day...

Today is the day I did not go to Cincinnati to join the PTI design team to play all day with stamps & ink, etc...but rather the day I stayed home because it is soooooo hot outside your feet melt to the sidewalk and/or driveway.  I am happy however that I am able to play along with the challenges they are posting today on the blog...Here is my submission for the #3 challenge-Punch a window in your card and tie twine or ribbon to he side of your card.

This was a simple card.  I had started it last night and wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with the stamped image.  The image BTW is from the PTI Anniversary set Botanical Sihouettes.  I also embossed the cream colored die cut with PTI canvas impression plate, but the detail didn't really show up to well in the photo.  Another technique I have been wanting to use is where you punch the side of your card so the twine stays within the size of your card and doesn't make the edges of your card to bulk.

PTI Anniversary Set...Botanical Silhouettes

I should have gotten out and taken this photo a few hours earlier...but the heat is so bad I actually think I am melting when I go outside.  Crazy thing happened today at lunch with my family...I think it was so hot I had the hardest time breathing.  I am really hoping we get a reprieve from this weather, either way I would probrably be inside creating...:)

Anywho, back to the card.  I have ordered quite a bit from PTI in the last year (f you know my DH, please don't tell him about this blog...he thinks I "win" everything and that I am the luckiest person in the world :)  I didn't qualify for the special anniversary set, however, I found a very lovely soul who sold me her extra set on the SCS buy/sell forum.  As soon as I gotit out of the mailbox and out of the packaging, I went to work on making a few cards for upcoming events.  This card is the first.  I chose poppy colors...I just love the colors red, black & white...poppies...remind me of the new Graphic 45 line Wizard of Oz paper I just picked up...that project will come later.

CAS Fairy Birthday Card

I know, I know, another birthday card...I just had an order go out for birthday this is why you are getting to see so many this week.  This also has to be the cleanest card I have done in a long time.  I bought a great clear acrylic stamp set from Micheal's awhile ago and I have never used it.  I did stamp "Make A Wish" on the front after taking the picture...I thought it was missing something.  I also stamped a cupcake and cut it out and popped it off the page with a pop dot.  The more I look at this card, the more I love it!

How About a Birthday Card...

Playing around today with birthday cards...I have also looked or ways to incorporate my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in almost every new project I am working on.  For someone who was afraid to use it, I am really in love with the product.  I sprayed the doily that was cut in half with Lemongrass Glimmer has the most amazing sparkle to it.  PTI was of course used on this card but I also used a stamp set from Fiskars as well.  I feel very good when I can co-mingle my stamps on my gives them each a unique character.

Voyage & Explore...Don't Mind If I Do...

I am knee deep in getting cards ready for the upcoming Fall craft shows.  I, of course, fell in love with another set of papers released by Authentique.  These papers are called Explore and Voyage.  I was also able to use my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist...I don't use it often, I think I am afraid of it...yet I cannot stop buying it...maybe it is intervention time.  I adore the colors of this line...the blue reminds me of peacock blue and the browns are so warm and inviting.  I added a few pieces of bling and a Papertrey Ink (PTI) sentiment.  Now to make many more of these beauties and package them up.

Just A Note

I just LOVE Basic Grey...They are one of my first loves in papercrafting.  I have been sitting on some of my BG stash for awhile and I decided to go ahead and use some for an order I was completing.  Well I sent the order out and didn't photograph any of the cards...I had to recreate these from my memory.  I am so excited that my PTI doily die should be here next Monday (I have been waiting many many weeks to get my hands on that prized die and every time I ordered it, it was backordered!).  In the meantime, I use the paper doilies you find in the cake decorating section.  Our $1 store has a HUGE selection of doilies (who would have known).

I adore blank note cards, and this is my nod to them.  The colors to me are amazing and the photos realy do not do them justice.  The cards are almost identical except for the sentiment and the color palette.

Authentique Sample #4...Maybe My Favorite

This may be my favorite sample card yet...I love working with border punches and if you ever visited my scrap space, you would see that I own quite a bit. It may be a sickness I have yet to confront...:)  The other thing I LOVE about this card is that it was created from the scraps of the first three cards.  It makes me feel good when I can use up scraps from previous projects.  Pin It

Authentique Samples 2 & 3

I couldn't help but keep playing last night after I posted the first sample card.  Here are samples 2 & 3.  The I Love You card uses elements from the Icons cardstock embellishments and a new stamp set I picked up from My Mind's Eye called Stella & Rose.  Both cards use PTI sentiments.  I can't wait to see what I come up with next...:)

Authentique...Can Someone Say L-O-V-E!

Paper lines keep getting better.  I absolutely fell in LOVE with a new paper line by Authentique Paper called Blissful.  The warm yellow & grey tones of the paper are so soft and beautiful.  Thank god my LSS Hannah's had a full stock of all these goodies on hand.

Sidenote:  I need to announce I am back on their design team after taking some time off...YIPEE!!!  Check out their website HERE.

This is one of the samples I have created for them to have in their store.  I used one of my favorite border punches and a fabulous ribbon technique that creates ruffles.  Also on this card is a wonderful sentiment from PTI.

Sometimes in life, you need to step back and take inventory...that is what I have been doing lately.  I needed some time off from blogging, creating, etc.  I have been on some travels since being gone...We took our kids to visit relatives in Southern IL, Tennessee & Alabama.  There was even one day where we were in 5 different states and a different time zone.  I would have liked to have spent more time stopping at roadside attractions, but our timeline didn't allow for that.  My husband doesn't fair too well on car rides...very impatient (I know I know...not a man being impatient).

So now I am back home and ready to get back to the things I love...papercrafting and creating cards.  I thought I would start by posting a card I did just before we left 5 weeks ago on our trip.  I was so busy packing I knew I wasn't going to have time to post this card.

This card was for a neighbor having his birthday.  I just so happened to get a new shipment of PTI goodies a few days before and I took to this stamp set right away.  This is a very basic card with little embellishment.  I also used my Cuttlebug embossing folder for the strip of darker blue.

Supplies Used:
Stamps- PTI Boy Basics Game On
Paper- SU Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Regal Red, White

Who says Boy Basics From PTI is Just for Boys?

I had to come up with a birthday card for a party my girls are going to...I immediately thought of this super cute frog from PTI Boy Basics: Frog Hop...Can you say Cute & Bargain?  The stamp set was only $5 and the die cut was $5...$10 for the two!!!  I have already made so many cards with this set its ridiculous!  Anywho...the party is for a super sweet neighbor I hado pair the frog with pretty pink paper and a girly doily.  I die cut the frog from DSP and then stamped her and colored in her eyes with my white Sakura pen...googly eyes would have been a great idea...but I didn't have any.  I also die cut the lilypad and stamped it as well.

The background paper is a technique I have been using a lot of lately...I foundit on Gina K's Stamp TV take a piece of DSP and emboss it with your Cuttlebug folder...then you take your TH Distress Ink with the blending foam and highlight the embossing.  For this card I used the Happy Birthday embossing folder and then highlighted it wil TH Distresss Ink in Tattered Rose.  The background paper was from SU! and it was from an very old retired line...but it has a delicate pink/white polka dot and very fine red swirl running thoughout it...I absolutely LOVE the way this card came out.

Pink Paislee Birthday Layout

So I have been intrigued with a scrapbook system that is gaining in popularity.  There are 2 companies that I am aware of that create easy to assemble scrapbooks using divided pages.  I decided to try my hand at creating my own version of their popular products and I think I have suceeded.  I think the only difference is the two pages I did, do not focus on journaling or "telling the story" as much as I let my pictures explain the event.

It helped that House of Three came out with this AWESOME (did you hear that?) paper line with Pink Paislee called Soiree.  I fell in love almost instantly...thank goodness my other 'love' Hannah's in Antioch is carrying this line of paper, embellishments, clear acrylic stamps, etc.

I am hoping to create these pages for them to make into kits, thereby enabling everyone, those who love to scrap and those who don't (you mean there are people out there like that?) a chance to get their memories recorded in a funky/kitchy way...and not in just a boring album.

With Sympathy...

It's no suprise I have been doing things in three is strange but I found myself needing three sympathy cards almost at the same time.  I created these cards using a Versamark & chalk technique that was just featured on Hannah's Scrapbook department on their FB can find it HERE.
I haven't done this technique in a long time so I thought I would give it a whirl...I LOVED the completed cards...I also created a fourth card for a thank you order I was completing...I am not sure you can tell by the photo but I used Pebbles, Inc. Pearlescent chalks to color over the Versamark ink.  This technique also gave me an excuse to buy a Hero Arts stamp I have been wanting to try...I can see doing this type of technique for all types of cards... Lily Bee Designs...Picket Fence Collection

I fell in love with the new line from Lily Bee Designs yesterday when I was at Hannah's.  It was Craftapalooza and I helped with a Make-N-Take with light embossing.  It was a lot of fun...when I was finished, I of course shopped a little and found this great new line from Lily Bee Designs called Picket Fence.  I bought the clear acrylic stamp set from the other line called This & That but the paper is from Picket Fence.
For some reason I am always doing "Thank You" cards...I guess because you can never have enough of them but it might also be because "thank you" stamps seem to be the biggest collection of stamps I own.  The flower is taken from the This & That stamp set.  I stamped it in a coordinating color that matched the cardstock.
These are super simple cards to complete...and many can be made in a short amount of time.  I used an embossing folder for the largest circle that was punched with a Giga Scalloped Punch, the Picket Fence DSP was punched with 2 5/16" circle, I die cut the smaller solid color cardstock circle with PTI die cuts and then stamped on the smaller white 1.5" circle with the stamp & sentiment. Ribbon was added and the cards were complete.

Hannah's in Antioch...I LOVE You!!!

I have made entries in this blog before giving "shout-outs" to Hannah's Scrapbook Store in Antioch...but now I LOVE them for a whole new reason...they put me on their design team!  This is my first design team position and I am so over the moon...I don't think my feet have touched the ground yet.  In fact, I already dropped off my first project...that may turn into a class of sorts...I am still working that all out on paper.  Here it is...
So, the challenge was to take a stamp set they had on their shelf and create something with it...seemed pretty simple.  I chose a stamp set from Craft Lounge, called Thankful Flourishes (CCM041).  It is a pretty basic consists of a larger floral image, a few smaller floral images, some swirls and a leaf type image, and 3 "thank you" type of sentiments.  At first, I felt like I was on Project Runway....but for scrapbook & stampers.  I hit my groove late last night and created these three cards.  They all match because of the color scheme and the designer paper I used.  However, each card is unique in the type of technique used on each card...the middle card is very basic with just the use of a scallop border die and a piece of fabric trim.  The card on the left is the large floral image stamped on a piece of designer paper and trimmed and set with pop dots.  And the card on the right is embossed with black embossing powder...can be considered an advance technique.

To find out more about Hannah's in Antioch, click HERE to visit their website and HERE to read their papercrafting blog...they also have a FB page and have been posting videos each day focusing on a different craft technique...because it is National Craft Month after all...Craftapalooza is also happening on the 19th if anyone is in the area and wants to stop by and see some more amazing things from the design team and participate in make-&-takes and more!

Thank you again Jill & Dana for letting me "play" on your team!  :)
