When my mom lived here, she would make these wonderful cookies called Rosette Cookies. I had always helper her make them when I was younger. The process is really quite simple...mix the batter and then use a rosette iron to fry them in Crisco. Well...my mom moved away a few years ago and we haven't had Rosette Cookies in awhile. This was the year I revived the tradition. My grandmother gave me a rosette iron last year...I have been told it is at least 60 years old. I called my mom for the recipe and got to work teaching Riley how to make the cookies...she did a fantastic job! We were able to package up a few containers for my cousins (who LOVE these cookies) for Christmas and make a few extra for us.
