Halloween Frame...

Here is a little Halloween frame I have been working on for the upcoming craft fair...I started with a basic unfinished frame I found at Hobby Lobby...I think I am going to try to find a finished black frame to alter next time.  I painted it a base coat of white and then used Folk Art Acrylic Paint 661 in Metallic Sequin Black...not too sequin-y.  After it was totally painted I couldn't tell it was sparkly at all.  I also used DSP Dusk from the Twilight Collection of Pink Paislee.  It was double-sided so I also used the orange back side to complement the other paper.

I used a black ribbon I just found at Hobby Lobby and finished it off with a bingo card with "CANDY" on it...it came in a pack of misc Halloween themed items put together by the creative bunch at Hannah's in Antioch.  I was also able to use my favorite MS Punch...Drippy Goo.

Enjoy!

Christmas in July...TUIC challenge.

This week's challenge was hosted by Monica.  Click HERE to visit her awesome blog.  The idea was to use non-traditional colors for a Christmas card.  My picture does appear a bit more yellow-ish than I thought...the colors I chose were purple, turquois, & green (plus any shade of those colors in the DSP).  I also was able to get a little bling on the card with a clear rhinestone attached to the 2 paper flowers.  The Merry Christmas was stamped with an unknown SU! stamp set...I lost the box it came in...hence its permanent spot in my unknown stamp box.  The turquois paper the "Merry Christmas" sentiment is stamped on is...from a roll of amusement coupons I found at the Dollar Tree up town.  I bought these tickets for my middle child's birthday...for the games...it has a spot on the back of the top ticket for name, phone number, etc...  Amusement tickets are becoming all the rage..Papertrey Ink has them in stamp form + many others are blazing their trail with them as well.  I just used the top ticket (blank back).  They are attached with pop dots.

Where Have I Been Lately? Pt 1.

I thought I would share a few pictures of where I have been on my travels the past few weeks...this is only the first installment because my other photo card is in my daughter's camera 360 miles away...so until I can get those pictures, here is the first batch.

We first started our vacation in the Wisconsin Dells.  Those of us who live in the upper midwest have heard of this wonderful (and costly) little part of Wisconsin.  This is our third trip and I must say, we may be getting good at taking this trip.  The vacation lasts anywhere from 2-3 days.

One of the first things we do is go to the downtown district and let the girls blow whatever coin they brought so we can get on with the vacation AND take our vintage family photo.  I also get the girls photo in this cheese shop, because I think it is the state charter or law-that as soon as my husband reaches the Wisconsin Dells city limits he is obligated to buy the larges size bag of string cheese and proceed to eat it in front of us...almost like a squirrel protecting its nuts...:)

This year we were in the Dells for 2 nights & 3 days...we stayed at The Wilderness.  Great resort...This is our second time staying there.  There are 3 outdoor waterparks, 2 indoor waterparks, and a monstrous indoor wave pool.  Here is the view from our room.
That funnel ride was the scariest thing I have ever been on...I was on it 2 years ago and I will never go on it again.  Thank you Wilderness resort for putting me in a room where I have to confront my fear on an hourly basis...:)

As you can tell, Riley was very happy about our balcony view.

The next day we went back to our favorite place in the Dells...believe it or not it was the Deer Park.  Riley & Daddy did not go with us last year and went to the upside-down White House tour instead...yes there really is an upside-down White House in the Dells...hand to God!

Now last year, Morgan proceeded to name almost every deer here...I know hard to believe but true.  There was Black Eye Pea, Q-Tip, Puff Ball...well I can't remember all their names because I am old...but she could tell you if you ask her.

So Tom's favorite thing to do at the park...was to put money in the machine for food and the deer were like all "jacked up"...all they had to hear was money being dumped into the machine...Tom didn't even get a chance to turn the know the first time and then he finally was able to and just let the deer eat from the spout...he couldn't even get his hands in there to get the food for them.

So that is it for the first part...I had a few more photos, however, I have been threatened by my two oldest if I post the embarrasing photos of them...okay just one...it was my favorite...:)

Happy Trails...:)

A Gift for Nancy...

I made a small gift for a co-worker yesterday.  She is an avid reader so I thought a bookmark with a gift card was appropriate.  Thank goodness SPS had a tutorial a couple weeks ago for this interesting bookmark.  I did follow the directions and used the size they suggested.  For more info CLICK HERE.  I think I will be making more of these...it gave me a chance to use a new Martha Stewart border punch and I really like the way the bookmark turned out, I hope she like it too.
