I joined a 12x12 Disney 2-page swap through SCS. I finished the master page today. Let me just start by saying I LOVE my new Cricut Expression...I cut everything with that machine...I picked the theme of Animal Kingdom, partially because I was going to start working on that part of our vacation album. The base of the pages are Kraft cardstock. I found a great deal on the green fern print paper (under the giraffe) at Archiver's...the paper was only $.05/each. I started by tearing the fern printed paper, sprayed with water and crumpled tightly. I then used a Tim Holtz Tea Stain ink pad to distress the paper a bit more. I layed the paper out and let it dry and distressed a bit more with the tea stain pad. The technique yielded a paper with the texture of leather...I had done this technique once before with brown paper bags. Of course the title and animals were cut using the Expression. I wanted an African mask on the page somewhere, so I experimented with the snake head. I used the red double stick Super Tacky tape and attached some hemp string to the back and created what I think looks like a mask...I could be reaching though...I also decided to give the animals Mickey Ears to establish Animal Kingdom Disney and not just a local zoo. If you are a participant in the swap and are taking a sneak peak...I hope you are looking forward to getting this page...I loved creating it for you.
